The entire planet is engulfed by dark side power that manifests itself in the form of powerful electrical storms, and this same power was capable of attracting the remnants of the Old Sith Empire from light-years away. "The holocron spoke of a way of calling upon several defensive aspects of the Force all at once, a form of sudden enlightenment - it is possible that when active, a Jedi would be almost completely shielded by the Force." Source: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith LordsĪnd this power is curiously missing when it could've been most useful (against Nyriss, which is a stupid fight in of itself, but that can be addressed in a separate blog).įinally, it is sometimes forgotten that the Meetra's showings in Revan only take place on Dromund Kaas, an especially powerful dark side nexus. As per KotOR II's game files, this wasn't just a game mechanic, but an actual power: Then there's the subject of Force Enlightenment, which, predictably, is also absent in the novel. " You give others strength to act, but it is also possible to draw upon the strength of others to increase your own." Source: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lordsīecause these Bonds are absent in the novel, she would be less powerful. And when the connection is formed, both become stronger." Source: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords "When heard, Force Sensitives instinctively seek out the source, are drawn to it, to try and form a connection. Are you saying you have bonded with another? Such bonds normally grant strength to both - but not to such a degree." Source: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords it is the bond that grows between master and student. Moreover, Surik's Bonds were unnaturally strong: Surik formed Bonds with her companions in KotOR II, and as a result, she was strengthened (along with her companions). What's also missing from the novel are her Force Bonds, which are among the Exile's greatest strengths. She'd then revert to her base power level. It therefore stands to reason that the temporary power-ups that she gained from draining her victims would've eventually subsided after a year of not feeding on anything. Even if it wasn't, we can assume that after the death of Traya and the destruction of the Sith Triumvirate, Surik wouldn't have been killing anymore and thus wouldn't have been feeding anymore. The Wound in the Force isn't even mentioned in the novel, but it is implied in KotOR II to have been healed by the end, which would prohibit her from feeding anymore. I think with this, the case is pretty clear. It makes them stronger - for a time." Source: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords "It is something the Sith, the assassins that stalk us, can do- it is of the dark side, the ability to feed on life, the Force, the closer one comes to it. To get a potential explanation for why she grew weaker after the game, however, we will need a quote from the dark side version of the game, where Kreia explains the nature of Drain to the Exile: Why do you think that was?" Source: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords You must have noticed as you've fought across all these planets, killing hundreds, only to grow more and more powerful. all the deaths you've caused to get here. Otherwise, earlier in the game, Masters Vandar and Vrook muse that she's just an average student of the Force (though this is retconned by the Revan novel, where Revan claims that she always had great potential with the Force, but we'll get to that later). In the scene in the Rebuilt Jedi Enclave, the Jedi Masters reveal to her that she keeps growing more and more powerful as she kills people across planets, since she feeds on their deaths (more on that here). This one is simple, and it pertains to the nature of the Exile's character in KotOR II, which is as a Wound in the Force. I will offer both explanations - it is up to you which one you choose to take, or none at all. For me, there are two feasible explanations for this - an in-universe one and an out-of-universe one. This blog is designed to relay my thoughts on the matter.

The subject of the disparity between the portrayed abilities of the Exile in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and The Old Republic: Revan has existed ever since the release of the latter source. Why did Meetra Surik get weaker in the Revan novel?
